It is not necessary to reinstall the Management System from a CD. Simply copy the entire IMSwin folder from the old server to the new server. We highly recommend keeping the same drive letter for the Management System that was used on the old server. There are some places in the Management System where we have stored a path to certain files (i.e. images and mail merge documents). Map the network drives from the workstations to the new server and then run the workstation setup, if these are new computers that have never had the Management System set up previously. (Search "new computer" in the Knowledgebase to get detailed workstation setup directions) If running MI Management System version 5.5.0.2, it will be necessary to reinstall the Interbase Server. Go to http://mers.com/ and download the ib_wi_os_tIB6_0_2_0.exe and then run the installation on the server. Also check that the ?:imswinserverdatainterbasemimgmtib.ini is pointing to the correct server name and path for the data. If this is not done properly, the agency will not be able to access or create new transactional filing data. If running MI Management System version 5.6.0.1, it will be necessary to reinstall the Firebird Server. Contact Support for assistance. If getting new workstations, make sure that the download computer has a modem. This is required for any carriers that download through IVANS to the IE server. Contact MI Support to help install the IVANS Transfer Manager software. If keeping a copy of the Management System on another computer for backup purposes while changing from one server to another, please rename the folder to something like IMSwin OLD and delete it after an appropriate amount of time. It can lead to a lot of confusion if the Management System Software can be found on multiple computers.
